Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas. We missed Jackie, Greg and Jon. Maybe next year. December has been very snowy, therefore a Very White Christmas.

Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ, however let us not forget him through out the remainder of the year. Wishing you all a very prosperous 2009 !

Oklahoma

We left Spring Hill at 4:00 AM on November 1st. We arrived in Edmond OK 2:00 PM. Jenn woke Ryder up from his nap so he could see us. We had a fun visit with them & got to see some interesting things including Sooner Stadium. Football is huge in Oklahoma. We also learned that we will be a Grandma & Grandpa for the 11th time. Exciting!!

Tennessee Visit

We traveled to Tennessee to visit Jackie & family. We enjoyed being there for Jackie's BDay and Halloween with the children. We left there on Nov. 1st en route to Oklahoma. The third trip to Tennessee this year.

Mother

Mother was taken to the hospital on October 15th. The family was blessed to be at her bedside when she passed from her earthly life on October 21st at 5:34 AM. We are so thankful for her, her teachings and her love. She is reunited with her husband, her parents, her son, son-in-law and those siblings and loved ones who had gone before her. She lived 94 years 10 months and 17 days. Love you Mother; til we meet again.

Jenn & Ryder Visit

Jenn flew to Salt Lake City on Ryder's Plane. I feel they had a great time visiting the families. I know we sure did enjoy their visit. We had a family barbecue for them on the 13th. Marinated flank steak on the grill, corn on the cob, Greek spinach salad. It was real tasty. Ryder helped us in the garden on Friday while Jenn & her sisters went to a movie & then on Saturday morning we were able to go hiking at Silver Lake. Fun!

Jim & Kathy Visit

My brother & sister-in-law came for a visit in mid June. We took them into the ski country, Snowbird, Alta, Brighton & Solitude in Cottonwood Canyons behind our house. We rode the Snowbird Tram to the 11,000 feet level. The last picture is at the summit of Big Mountain on the way to our favorite camping spot in East Canyon.

Jim & Kathy Visit Kennecott Copper Mine

We took Jim & Kathy to the largest excavation on earth. The top is 2 3/4 miles across & 3/4 of a mile deep. Kennecott Copper mine was opened in 1906. In addition to copper, it produces gold, silver & molybdenum. It employs 1500 people & 450,000 tons of material are removed daily. There are 64 trucks which can carry 255 tons per load. Jim is over 6' so you can see how huge the tires are. Compare the semi-truck in the picture with one of the huge mining trucks parked next to it.

Our Utah

Back in Utah, just kicking back in our back yard, ball games, dance concerts, East Canyon, mowing the lawn, just whatever. Relaxation in its simplest form.

Home at Last !!

We arrived in Utah on May 13th. We went from Utah to Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arizona. Utah is the BEST! We were going to pick up our RV in St. George and head North. But we were both sick so decided to spend 2 days and then leave for home. We arrived home on the 15th, 31 days after leaving for Missouri. It felt good to be home. We had a great visit along the way, but no place like home. Home one week, then took our RV and headed for East Canyon for a week over Memorial Day.

Edmond Oklahoma

We left Tennessee on May 6th to visit Jenn, Greg, Ryder, Bones & Shilo. We arrived there about 6PM. We called from their driveway & they come a'runnin'. It was good to see them. We were able to help with a couple of projects plus see Oklahoma City and surrounding area. Greg arranged for us to see Tinker AFB, tour one of the AWAC planes, tour his Training Facility plus one of the Mega Million $$ simulators. He has big time responsibilities. And the "huge event" was Jenn driving through the eye of a horrendous storm with tornado sightings in that area. This back seat driver was very quiet. Thanks Jenn. We had a great time with them.

Spring Hill Tennessee

We canceled our trip to Branson & spent a few more days with Mother. We then headed southeast to visit Jackie, David & grandchildren in TN. We arrived in time to see the kids depart the school bus. They sure were surprised. We visited the Church & Temple in Franklin. Watched Colton play baseball. Viewed the scenery in Middle Tennessee. A nice visit.

School of the Osage 50th Reunion

We left SLC on April 15th for Missouri. Our Reunion was held at Lake Ozark on April 25th & 26th. We toured our Elementary & High School and then enjoyed a buffet that evening at Holiday Inn. The next evening we were the Class of Honor at the annual Alumni meeting. There were 36 in our graduating class, 27 are living and 22 attended the activities. It was a pleasure to see everyone & share stories from the past. I felt our time to visit was to short.

Pismo Beach

We traveled to California in February to pick up a new RV in Auburn, California. We traveled to the coast & spent a few days at Pismo Beach. It was awesome. The weather was sunny & bright with temperatures in the mid 60's and actually got into the 70's on Sunday. Pismo Coast RV Park is right on the Beach. We sure enjoyed the area. We returned to Utah via the southern route with a couple of days in St. George. We stored the RV there & will pick it up in late spring.
